1. Telecommute from the Beach?
Government employees get an easy ride sometimes, with
benefits that most people can only dream of. So when one
Wisconsin official asked for permission to commute from
Hawaii, the request was nearly granted. But in the end
the idea was vetoed, and the lady in question ended up
losing her job.
So here's an example where being a freelancer offers real
advantages. Being your own boss means you can choose
where you want to work from. And if that means working on
a beach in Hawaii, that's up to you.
So don't look for a cushy government job, get an even
better life as a freelance professional.

5. The Right Time
As the anniversary of 9/11 looms closer, you may be
tempted to pull out your memoir or manuscript about that
very topic, thinking that now is a good time to approach
publishers. However, you should think again. It seems
that many books that were published, ready for release by
the 1st anniversary of 9/11, have been largely
unsuccessful.
Mr Unowsky, the owner of Ruminator Books, an independent
bookstore in St Paul, states, "We haven't had much luck
selling 9/11 books, I'll tell you that".
So here are some words of advice. Store your manuscript
for now and pull it out again in 10 years. The pain is
still too raw at present, and in 10 years, you never
know, your work may end up being a bestseller.

Testimonials
"I took a chance one day when I was flush and sent a few bucks to gain access to the Go Freelance Professional Edition. Since then, I've edited a sales letter, a follow-up letter, an 11-page Web site, and a brochure. I'm 'on call' to do pinch-hit proofreading for a medical newsletter editor in Florida ..and I've landed a gig editing a new Canadian magazine coming out this fall. All this from taking a chance on Go Freelance."
