Although the concept of teleworking has been slow to take
off in the US, in other parts of the world it is widely
accepted.
In Sweden, for example, half of employees work from home
at least once a week. This has become possible because
seven out of ten managers support it.
And there's the rub. While millions of employees would
love to leave the office for good, most corporations
still prefer the traditional approach.
But Sweden has pioneered many technological changes in
the past, so maybe this is a harbinger of things to come

5. Get Briefed By the Decision Maker
When you are taking a brief for a new project, make sure
you are talking to the person who will make the final
decision.
There's nothing more frustrating than completing a job
according to one person's directions, only to find that a
more senior person rejects it. Often this happens for
reasons that you could not possibly foresee.
So if you believe your contact is not the decision maker,
ask if the more senior person can be invited to the
briefing meeting, or at least asked to approve the
written brief.
That way, you are less likely to end up wasting your
time.
