1. Grow Your Freelance Business
During the course of running Freelance Work Exchange, I
frequently come across competing web sites and
interesting products for freelancers.
To be honest, most are just a waste of time or overpriced
scams. So you can imagine my surprise when I stumbled
across "The Web Design Business Kit"
(http://www.sitepoint.com/launch/info/3/4) by SitePoint
recently.
After reading through the sales page, I decided to pull
out my credit card and buy a copy for myself - hey, it's
tax deductible. Within a few days I had in my hands two
huge vinyl binders containing about 700 pages of
information.
I spent several evenings reading through the material and
I was very pleasantly surprised that the author not only
had a ton of great ideas for anyone doing web design work
for others, but he had a great way of writing that made
you want to keep reading and reading and reading.
The kit is split into two binders: a 400 page manual full
of advice on everything from pricing your work to getting
referrals and getting big ($50K) clients. The second
binder, which is about 300 pages contains about 60
documents to use in your web design business. There's
everything from sample proposals, letters to clients,
business plans, need evaluation checklists and even a
sample web design services contract.
All in all, very useful stuff especially since all the
documents are also included on a CDROM that comes with
the kit so it's easy to customize everything for your own
use. Even though I'm very familiar with the web design
business, there were quite a few documents that I had
never even though of creating which would be a great help
to anybody looking to close more deals and find more
clients.
If you're looking to grow your Web Design Business, close
more deals, leverage your skills and get plenty of ideas
for finding new clients, in my opinion the kit is an
absolute bargain. Everybody from part-time freelancers to
the CEO's of 15-person firms will pick up ideas that will
greatly help them. I highly recommend it.
