1. Are You Free to Freelance?
If you freelance in your spare time whilst holding down a
full-time job, you may have to give up your moonlighting
work.
In the UK, the BBC is negotiating with senior
broadcasters to prevent them writing columns for
newspapers. If an agreement is reached, it is possible
that others in the industry could be affected, too.
So if you are still a part-time freelancer, maybe now is
the time to think about taking the plunge into a
full-time career.

8. Cool Project:
Seeking freelance Art Director for start-up - Orlando
Seeking a talented page designer who would like to add
'Art Director` to her or his resume. The start-up weekly,
formatted on the USA Today broadsheet page, plans an
early 2004 launch, and you can make your mark by
designing the paper's look from scratch. You will have
worked in an all-Mac OS X environment, specializing in
Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop, InDesign,
Illustrator and Acrobat) and have experience in
typography, graphics, illustration and photography.
(Enthusiasm for golf would be great, and a familiarity
with the game would be helpful, but lack of either is not
necessarily a deal breaker. Your design skills take
precedent over your golf swing.) As Art Director, you
will work with the editor to develop the look and feel of
the entire paper, and then take charge of Page 1 and
'play` pages each week. You'll also supervise/approve the
work of copy editors/page designers. The paper will go to
press early Monday mornings, so Sunday is crunch time
with a midnight deadline. With a few hours of prep during
the week, and 8-10 hours on Sunday, you can still hold
down your current job while gazette finds it legs.
Ideally, the Art Director will live in the Orlando area,
but they'll consider a telecommuter who has the right
equipment, the right software and the right stuff.

Testimonials
"I took a chance one day when I was flush and sent a few bucks to gain access to the Go Freelance Professional Edition. Since then, I've edited a sales letter, a follow-up letter, an 11-page Web site, and a brochure. I'm 'on call' to do pinch-hit proofreading for a medical newsletter editor in Florida ..and I've landed a gig editing a new Canadian magazine coming out this fall. All this from taking a chance on Go Freelance."

"Once again, you guys have come through with incredible results. Our job post definitely produced the type and quality of person we needed, and we found who we were looking for quickly. From now on, you're my first choice when I need to hire someone."
