1. Freelancers Feel the Pinch
When a Swedish newspaper switched from broadsheet to
tabloid format, freelancers contributors were horrified to hear
that their rates were being cut. The paper says that because
of the smaller pages, less freelance material will be needed.
“This attack on freelance rights gives a new meaning to the
term ‘down-size',” said Aidan White, EFJ General Secretary.
“Using the argument that going tabloid justifies cutting fees is
absurd. The management wants exactly the same amount of
work but at a cut-price. It is completely unacceptable.”
So if a publication you work for is changing format, take care –
you could end up getting paid less.

Testimonials
"I took a chance one day when I was flush and sent a few bucks to gain access to the Go Freelance Professional Edition. Since then, I've edited a sales letter, a follow-up letter, an 11-page Web site, and a brochure. I'm 'on call' to do pinch-hit proofreading for a medical newsletter editor in Florida ..and I've landed a gig editing a new Canadian magazine coming out this fall. All this from taking a chance on Go Freelance."
