1. Dot Coms Embrace Telecommuting Once More
In the days of the dot com boom, teleworking was accepted as
part of the new business revolution. But when the crash came,
many technology companies retrenched to the old style of
office-based working.
Now the tide is turning again, and many dot coms are seeing
real benefits from telecommuting.
"Not everyone can be innovative in a very structured, 9-to-5 type
office environment," said Brad Short, a lead mechanical-design
engineer in HP's printer group. At home, "you stop watching the
clock," Short explained. "It now becomes more of a focus on
getting the task done."
Thanks to better technology, employee desires and a focus on
results, a number of firms in the industry are giving more workers
flexibility in the way they do their jobs.

Testimonials
"I took a chance one day when I was flush and sent a few bucks to gain access to the Go Freelance Professional Edition. Since then, I've edited a sales letter, a follow-up letter, an 11-page Web site, and a brochure. I'm 'on call' to do pinch-hit proofreading for a medical newsletter editor in Florida ..and I've landed a gig editing a new Canadian magazine coming out this fall. All this from taking a chance on Go Freelance."
