Your Questions About Online Form Fill Up Job

Steven asks…

How do I fill out my resume? Help please!?

I was ready to appy online for a job and realized i have to make in resume form. I have never done this before, and i don't want to screw it up. This is not some big corporate job or anything...to be honest it's a janitor job :) .....I just need a job period.

...and websites that show examples or tips...or do you have any advice for me? thanks!
I don't have Microsoft Word

admin answers:

Narrow your resume down to one page, max. Make sure you have your name, address, and phone number listed at the top of the page. Take at look at the job requirements on the website and find key words you can use in your resume. If it says you must have experience with (____) and you do, make sure you use that word in the resume, as many employers use computer programs to automatically screen resumes for "key" words. Touch only on relevant points in your resume. Since the position is for a janitor's position, don't mention anything that doesn't have anything to do with what the job responsibilities are, such as cooking. Microsoft Word has a lot of templates you can use. Open Word, click new and and type "resume" in the search box that pops up. It will bring up a list of their resume templates, some of which may be geared toward certain positions. Pick one that you like best and fill it out. Word is very user friendly, you should have no problem. After you submit your resume, make sure you print out a hard copy on resume paper (like 8$ a box at Wal-Mart) to take with you should they call you in for an interview. It's also good to have some on hand in case you happen to encounter an open position you are qualified for. Best of luck to you!

MORE DETAILS:
You will have to make up a resume of some kind using a computer to be able to attach it to the listing, unless they have a form for you to fill out. Try finding a friend or a library that has a computer with word that you can use. Buy a cheap memory stick ($10 will buy you a good bit of memory), save it to that stick and attach it to the listing. If this is not something you can do, I'm not sure I can give you more advice. Best of luck to you!

Laura asks…

What is the best way to find affordable full service long distance movers?

I'm planning to move from Missouri back to NYC in the next 30 - 60 days and need to hire movers. I filled out one of those online forms and the quotes coming in are nowhere near my expectations! I really don't want to spend all day calling around with a phonebook, but based upon these prices, I might not have a choice! Does anyone have suggestions on how I can find someone reputable who will be able to do the job for a reasonable price? I'm thinking no more than $1500/ $2000 max is more than reasonable, and not $6000 like these quotes because I don't have an outrageous amount of stuff. It's just a 1 BR without lots of heavy furniture: queen sized bed, daybed, entertainment center, and the rest - boxes. The entire move will probably take up about 1000 cubic feet. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Renting and driving a truck (self-service move) is NOT an option :)
I repeat: doing it myself is NOT an option so renting a U-Haul, loading and driving and then unloading is not what I am looking to do. Please read before responding ;)

Look up in the yellow pages, a moving company called Mayflower I heard they were pretty reasonable in the hundreds not thousands. Also look up Two men and a Truck that's another resonable company or just rent U-haul and drive the truck yourself that is only like $300.

Helen asks…

Is it just me or should they make welfare a little bit easier to sign up for?

Because of circumstances beyond my control, I am signing up for welfare until such time that I get a job. I am a nursing school graduate who is having difficulty finding a job because I lack experience.

I went on the welfare website for my state to sign up and they need about a dozen forms to be filled out. They have detailed information on them and it keeps stating "if any information is incorrect, it may delay the application process."

Well, I haven't made any errors yet... but I'm sure I will with the number of bureaucratic documents that I must fill out. And it won't let me do it fully online from the welfare website either. One of the forms I have to obtain from a social services office and get signed by a notary public. Basically, they are making it a chore. I'm tired of doing form after form. Like, why can't they just make the application process for getting welfare payments a TINY bit more streamlined? I am tired every day because of this.

I'm not asking for them to let more people qualify. What I am asking for is for the paperwork to be trimmed down a bit. Make it a bit easier to sign up for welfare. I find myself having no energy to go through all this. The administrative services we'd reduce, might even make the system a bit less costly.

Nope, it should be difficult, as the avenue of last resort

I'd like to take this opportunity to clarify a common misconception. That is that all home based opportunities that have

associated start-up fees are scams. This misunderstanding stems from two factors.,.,., The first is what I call the W2 syndrome.

That is, people who have always worked for someone, and therefore collected a W2 for income tax purposes, tend not to think

as entrepreneurs, who understand that it cost money to start a business. This brings us to the second misunderstanding. Most

of the legitimate work frrom home opportunities that have start up fees are not jobs, but home based franchises and, just

like buying a traditional franchise, the franchisor expects you to pay for certain things, be that a website, inventory, etc.

Need advise on TOPSHOP job application! *~5 STARS FOR BEST ANSWER~*?

I'm 16 years old and applying for a weekend job as a sales assistant at the TOPSHOP in Oxford Circus. However, this is my first time trying for a job & I have a few questions on the application process (please bear with me!).

1) I found the job application online. Once I've finished filling it out do I just go up to an employee at the store & hand it to them? One of the questions on the form is "How did you learn of this vacancy?" which doesn't apply to me because I haven't checked their vacancies but I want to let them know I'm interested in employment. I feel that may be a little awkward since I didn't get the application form instore & I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to say/do.

2) Does anyone know what sort of processes I may have to go through (specific to TOPSHOP or any other clothing store trials for a sales assistant position) after I do hand in the form? I've heard rumours about numerous "group interviews" (interviewing with others applying for the same spot as you), as well as the usual phone/one-on-one interview.

Thanks to all contributors! I appreciate any help & there will be 5 stars for the best answer (= xxxxx

On question 1 go in and hand the form in if you can. That shows you are keen and they can get to see you. You could ring up the store and ask if you can hand the form in to the manager. If you can't meet the manager make sure you see the Assistant Manager. Don't just hand it to an assistant. On the form say that you have always liked Top Shop and although you are not aware of a specific vacancy you would like to be considered for any that arise.

On question 2 think through what they will be looking for in a great sales assistant
-friendly
-good communication
-confident
-looks the part
-good team player

Make sure you think of examples from school or your interests where you can show this, for example worked with a team on a school project
