What does this quote mean? “Self-development is a higher duty than self-sacrifice.” Elizabeth Cady Stanton?
admin answers:
I think it means making something of yourself and improving yourself is above/bigger then sacrificing yourself. Like, maybe she's saying that working to make yourself a better person or get yourself to a better place for a certain cause is more difficult/worthy then sacrificing yourself for that same cause.

Maria asks…
explain quote? The aim of life is self-development. To realize one’s nature perfectly – that is what each of u?
"The aim of life is self-development. To realize one’s nature perfectly – that is what each of us is here to do"
admin answers:
To me, this quote tells you the purpose of life, that is to understand yourself and who you are perfectly, to make yourself completely predictable to yourself. But you have to see yourself in a postive light and accept your flaws. The meaning of life is to get to be the best person you can be on the inside.

How does the book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde relate to one of these three quotes?
i have to write a paper on how the book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde relates to one of these quotes. it can be as easy as how Dr. Jekyll (or any other character in the book) relates to one of these quotes please give as many examples as you can thanks!
1. "courage is the ladder on which all other virtues mount"
2. "experience teaches slowly and at the cost of mistakes"
3. "the aim of life is self development. To realize ones own nature perfectly- that is what each of us is here for"

Recording self help/self actualization process for audio. Thought I would ask for ideas on Meditation?
Hi there and thanks for your attention on this.
I’m about to record a number self development and self actualization sessions and I had this idea of putting it out there to see what ideas I might get from others. I have my own material but I’m always looking forward to hearing other people’s suggestions and see if there is anything I might be able to add.
2.Meditation ( being inwardly centered and knowing your true self)
I will focus here on letting go of the thoughts that are constantly in our mind. Bring a stillness and quietness to the mind. Once a person achieves this stillness (void) they are in an excellent position for an experience of their true nature.
I’m open to quotes, sayings, metaphors, Tec’s or anything else you might find relevant.
Thanks again and I look forward to your comments/suggestions.

Started practicing Mindfulness Meditation to reduce stress, anxiety and to lower my Blood Pressure. Within two weeks, noticed excellent results. Mindfulness Meditation and Lovingkindness Meditation has produced much Patience in my life (a good working definition of patience is the ability to remain internally & externally calm and undisturbed in the face of harm and difficulties in life). Mindfulness Meditation and Lovingkindness Meditation has improved my relationships with others immensely; it has increased my concentration and improved my memory. *The key has been practicing twice a day - consistenly, as if my very life depended on it.
Am practicing two types of Meditation daily:
1) Mindfulness Meditation:
*Below is an Excellent "How To Manuel" on Mindfulness Meditation which will teach you much and will provide informative statements of truth you can utilize:

2) Loving-kindness (Loving-friendliness)
Meditation. Most who practice meditation, practice Lovingkindness Meditation "before" practicing Mindfulness Meditation.
*An Excellent How To Manuel on Lovingkindness Meditation is: "Lovingkindness: the Revolutionary Art of Happiness" by: Sharon Salzberg.
Here's an Example of Lovingkindness Meditation:
Loving-kindness Meditation(spoken quietly):
1. *May I be well, happy and peaceful. May no harm come to me. May no difficulties come to me. May no problems come to me. May I always meet with success. May I also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures in life.
2. *May my parents and be well, happy and peaceful. May no harm come to them. May no difficulties come to them. May no problems come to them. May they always meet with success.
May they also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures in life.
3. *May my relatives be well, happy and peaceful. May no harm come to them. May no difficulties come to them. May no problems come to them. May they always meet with success.
May they also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures in life.
4. *May my teachers be well, happy and peaceful. May no harm come to them. May no difficulties come to them. May no problems come to them. May they always meet with success.
May they also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures in life.
5. *May my friends be well, happy and peaceful. May no harm come to them. May no difficulties come to them. May no problems come to them. May they always meet with success.
May they also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures in life.
6. *May all indifferent persons be well, happy and peaceful. May no harm come to them. May no difficulties come to them. May no problems come to them. May they always meet with success.
May they also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures in life.
7. *May my enemies be well, happy and peaceful. May no harm come to them. May no difficulties come to them. May no problems come to them. May they always meet with success.
May they also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures in life.
8. *May all living beings be well, happy and peaceful. May no harm come to them. May no difficulties come to them. May no problems come to them. May they always meet with success.
May they also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures in life.
The practice of Universal Loving-Kindness is recommended for bedtime and just after arising in the morning. It helps you sleep well and prevents nightmares. It also makes it easier to get up in the morning. And Lovingkindness Meditation makes you more loving, patient, gentle, compassionate and friendlier and open toward everybody, friend or foe, human or otherwise.
Great Question - encourage you to continue to practice mindfulness meditation daily and if you wish you may daily use the guided lovingkindness meditation (1-8) listed above - which is from Sharon Salzberg's book on "Lovingkindness: the Revolutionary Art of Happiness".
Metta (lovingkindness; lovingfriendliness) to All.
