Eye Ergonomics

Here is a piece of free advice I had to pay my optometrist to get: When you are sitting at your computer stand, the top of your monitor should be approximately at chin level. You should be looking down slightly when reading your screen. A screen that is set any higher causes eye strain. This can lead to neck problems, and definitely leads to eye problems.

Don’t think this is a big deal? When you don’t set up your computer equipment at the optimal levels for your body, you are asking it to work harder throughout the day. This means you have fewer resources to devote you your job. This means you get less done in your day. And this, of course, translates into lost money.

In other words, this should be a big deal to you, since your aim is to make as much money in as few hours as possible, right? I thought so.

Productivity isn’t just about keeping yourself organized. It is also about setting up your work station so you can stay there longer and get more done.
