The magazine of the Canadian Nature Federation, published bi-annually in spring and fall. Publishes approx 20 manuscripts per year. Features: cover a broad range of natural history and environmental topics and make up approximately 50% of material. Their mandate is to educate, inform, and entertain readers and feature articles should reflect that aim. Approx 3 features in each issue. Length: 2000-3500 words. Departments: There are three departments that rely exclusively on freelance contributors: Small Wonders (800-1000 wds), Connections (1000-1500 wds), and Pathways (1000-1500 wds). Queries: Keep your outline brief and to the point - for a feature article, approx one typewritten page. Spell out the ground you intend to cover. Indicate the thread of the article and the transitions by which you plan to move from section to section. Show the conclusions, if any, you will draw. If you have not written for Nature Canada before, include links to your published work. Payment: $0.50 per word for final, edited copy.
