Newpaper Journalist Needed

Job Summary:

Local periodical seeks journalists for free lance assignments, mostly of investigative nature. Pay low but worthwhile. Need car. Per diem plus per article.

Description of project:

Topics: is local government supported busline a boondogle? Who pays for Medicaid and how? Who writes the cheques and who checks on them? Is the local school system working or is it a basket case? Do the taxpayers get their moneys worth? What are we, in our local community, doing about global waming? What should we be doing? These are multi-article features usually involving a team. We are looking for team players to complement our staff. Articles are assigned by editorial team. You can join the team. Articles 450-1000 words.

Skill requirements:

Newspaper experience. Drive. Camera a plus. My Space or blog experience useful. Knowing something about politics, finance, education (higher,lower, middle), NY State, county or local government all helpful but not essential. Write with style, assuranace and clarity; accurateness and fariness critical.
