Job Summary:

Linguist/transcribers needed in the following languages: Arabic, Ibo, Fujianese, Kurdish, Bengali and Tamil. Seeking applications from linguists (BA Honours or equiv. or mother tongue) in any one or more of the languages listed. You will have the opportunity to contribute to work of national importance by helping to counter the wide ranging threats to national security; in particular those emerging from terrorism & serious crime.

Seeking applications from linguists (BA Honours or equiv. or mother tongue) in any one or more of the languages listed. Skill requirements:

Translating and transcribing a wide variety of over and secret material, mainly deriving from telephone interceptions under the authority of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, reporting the essential points in clear idiomatic English, gisting or more fully as needed, and assisting in the analysis of intelligence. Candidates are required to have good spoken and written English; A genuine love of languages and desire to develop further language skills; Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Flexible attitude to work, good team player and willing to take on responsibility; Self-descipline and the ability to concentrate for long periods; Good hearing (must pass audiometry test).
