We are looking someone with the following skills and experience to help manage the flow of data into the archive. ·When a journal is first submitted to the archive, the candidate will perform a comprehensive check of the electronic submission to ensure that the data files accurately represent the original journal article content - full text as well as figures, tables, math, etc. ·For journals in routine production, the candidate will process journal articles/issues received in electronic form and load them into the PubMed Central database. ·The candidate will check the accuracy and integrity of articles online against the original print version or PDF file copy. When discrepancies are detected in the online version, determine the cause - software or data problem - and define what corrections are needed. ·The candidate will keep track of incoming content and of the progress of work on multiple journals in development or production. The successful candidate will have: ·Background in publishing or library science. ·Excellent organizational and communication skills. ·Knowledge of SGML, XML, and DTDs. ·Familiarity with web and online systems, specifically electronic journals. ·Excellent analytical skills. |
