Telecommuting Jobs
Make the right business connections in the world’s
fastest-growing freelance marketplace.
Telecommuting opens a whole new way of life - and you don't even need to change jobs.
The phrase 'telecommuting' refers to undertaking work remotely, usually using a computer, fax machine and other technology to stay in touch with your employer. Also known as teleworking, it allows you to work almost as if you were in the corporate office. Briefs for projects are sent to you via email or fax, and you return completed work in the same way. Although you can certainly undertake this kind of work as a freelance, there is no reason why shouldn't remain a full-time employee, if this suits you better. It's ideal for stay at home moms, for example.
Research has shown that a high percentage of people would like to adopt telecommuting, and that it is possible for a high percentage of jobs. Yet even now, in the 21st century, only a minority within the workforce have work from home jobs. Why? Well, mainly because employers are still resistant. They prefer to have their staff in the office, where they can see and control them. Persuading a company to let make money from home can be a considerable hurdle. However, it is by no means impossible.
What you need to do is convince your employer that you can be controlled effectively, even when you are out of the office. After all, how many people do you know who spend half their time in the office playing computer games or surfing the net, only working when the boss is in the room? The answer lies in undertaking tasks where your performance can be measured - not just the number of hours you spend behind your desk. There are many jobs which fall easily into this home based business category:
- freelance writing jobs
- programming contracts
- web design consultancy
- medical transcription
- home based businesses
- technical writing
- graphic design
That should give you some ideas, but there are many more possibilities. And with technology advancing further, these opportunities are expanding. So if you want to enjoy the benefits that telecommuting jobs can offer, start working on your boss today.
Testimonials
"I took a chance one day when I was flush and sent a few bucks to gain access to the Go Freelance Professional Edition. Since then, I've edited a sales letter, a follow-up letter, an 11-page Web site, and a brochure. I'm 'on call' to do pinch-hit proofreading for a medical newsletter editor in Florida ..and I've landed a gig editing a new Canadian magazine coming out this fall. All this from taking a chance on Go Freelance."
